Bp. Stephen D. Strawn Bishop Ordinary & Dean of the Cathedral

Bp. Stephen D. Strawn

Stephen Strawn is the Dean at St. John's Cathedral and the Diocesan Bishop for the Diocese of the Missouri Valley. Bishop Strawn is from Dallas, Texas, and he is a graduate of the Anglican School of Theology. He is married to Annette Strawn.


Rev. Canon Patrick Fodor

The Rev Canon Patrick Fodor, assisting priest at St. John’s Cathedral, is a native of Buffalo, New York. He is married, with three children. Canon Fodor teaches the adult Sunday School class during the year. He also serves as Dean of the Midwest Deanery for the Diocese of the Missouri Valley and as Canon to the Ordinary.

Canon Fodor earned a B. A. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, with a major in Sociology, and concentrations in Psychology and Religious Studies/Classics. He earned an M. Div. from Brock University: Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.  His doctorate is from Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. His dissertation, under Rev. Dr. Arthur Just Jr., was “Preaching as Sacramentum: ‘Covenant’ as Central Paradigm for Sacramental Preaching.”  He has also completed a M.A. from the University of Balamand’s St. John of Damascus School of Theology (Tripoli, Lebanon), with his thesis, under the V. Rev. Dr. Michel E. Najim, was “Personalism as Key to an Orthodox Hermeneutic” He also studied at Logos House of Theological Studies in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. He also teaches as a full-time tenured professor at John Wood Community College. He has previously also taught at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri, and online classes for the University of Phoenix, as well as courses at St. Bede's Anglican Catholic Theological College in Victoria, BC (Canada), where he is the chairman of the department of Exegetical Theology.

Dcn. Charles W. Akright Deacon Emeritus

Dcn. Charles W. Akright

Deacon Charles has been an educator through Quincy Public Schools for 35 years. He served in the armed forces for 23 years, three of which he spent in Germany. He has served at St. John's Cathedral for ten years. Deacon Charles is married to Sharon Akright. Together they have three daughters and six grandchildren.

Mr. Gary L. Blickhan

Gary Blickhan is St. John's residing organist. Blickhan is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied accounting. He enjoys playing chess and international travel.
